Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 20 [ PITTSBURGH PREMIERE ]
Brahms: A German Requiem
Requiem: A mass for the dead. Brahms takes this somber musical form and reaches to the depths of his soul, emerging with a piece for the human. The artist speaks to all with this chillingly beautiful work, articulating the rawness of the end of one’s life.
The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh sets the scene for this experience with the a cappella piece, Lux Aeterna, by Latvian composer, Ēriks Ešenvalds, followed by the “rhapsodic flair” of Behzod Abduraimov in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 (The New York Times).
