Disclaimer: Note that when I write One Perfect Christmas Song. I do not mean to imply that it is the only perfect Christmas Song. I am making the claim, however, that it is possible to compose a perfect piece of music – in this case, a song where lyrics, music and message are perfectly married.
A little over a week ago, a niece-in-law of mine posted a request on her Facebook page asking her friends to list their favorite Christmas carols. Those of you who know me would think this was right up my alley. I though so, too. But as I ran through my mental card catalog, I quickly realized there were too many from which to pick just one. A week went by when today, I happened upon my copy of Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s first Christmas CD, Christmas Eve and Other Stories. And there it was – track 12 – Old City Bar, my favorite Christmas Song.
If you want to arrange it
This world you can change it
If we could somehow make this
Christmas thing last
By helping a neighbor
Or even a stranger
And to know who needs help
You need only just ask
– Old City Bar, Paul O’Neill
